Geez, that was unexpected

Today I made something for lunch that I don't usually make. Ok...I don't think I have ever made this for lunch, but after today I am going to start. I have the pickiest eaters... usually we stick to PB & J's, Macaroni and cheese, chicken nuggets, or they just snack for lunch. I make all these things for lunch and they don't eat them ,so yep...a lot of the time I let them eat just informal snacks. They are healthy- so don't jump down my throat ;) I can't force feed them and I am tried of throwing away food. Today though, in a small little attempt to eat healthier, I made all 3 of us something different (different for us anyway). We had fresh blueberries and strawberries and some grapes. Then we had some broccoli and cauliflower (yes, they actaully ate it too...with ranch). Then I made some roll ups on a tortilla. I spread a little ranch on it, with some lettuce, cheese, and sliced chicken. I thought I would get the normal reaction. "Gross. I am NOT eating that." But what I got was, "Mmmmm, Mommy. This is the best sandwich ever. I like it more than the things I like. Thanks for makin' this for me." ( As he is eating the broccoli off of Ryan's plate) Then he gets off his chair and comes running over to me with his arms wide open and gives me the biggest hug and kiss. Even Ryan, who doesn't eat anything lately (he is more into throwing his food and watching us pick it up)...ate half his sandwich and almost all of his fruit and some of his veges. (Not too shabby for a little guy with an ear infection, hey??)

Well. Then, I guess I have been making the wrong things for lunch all along. I just need to feed them HEALTHY things, then they'll eat. Silly mommy.

  1. Funny!  Belle's favorite sandwich is a turkey-cheese roll-up (tortilla with turkey, shredded cheese and ranch).  Something I made out of desperation one day too!  ha ha!

Her new latest favorite..."fake Subway sandwich"...turkey or ham, shredded cheese, black olives and ranch.  I think it's the name that gets her to love it so much!
