Arent washers supposed to smell good??

Our washer has this really strong smell  of mold or mildew coming from it. It seriously stinks up the whole laundry room. We tried the "clean washer" cycle, but then it starts spitting water out the front door! (It's a front load washer) It smells like we ran a load of laundry and left it in there for a week. Jake called the service company today--thank God the thing is still under warranty!!! Maybe I will get a new washer out of the deal. I would love one that doesnt smell like mold, and preferably, one that doesnt leak water out the door during the clean cylce. Thats not too much to ask, is it???
We are lucky though... this is really the only issue we have had with our house since we built it! In fact, they just built a new model and they are letting Jake have some cabinets from the old model...so now he will be able to organize the garage the way he wants...everything will have it's place, and there will even be extra room :) Today he is getting their old windows for our future shed. Ok...so really that has nothing to do with what I was saying inthe first place, but you know- I am so easily distracted...

I just cant wait to have a clean,non-stinky, mold-free washer!

  1. Have you tried running a cycle with just bleach?  That's worked for me before.  But, hey, if you can get a new washer out of the deal...awesome1

  2. That is what the clean washer cycle is I guess... Just a deep cleaning cycle of the guts of the washer and all we can use in that cycle is bleach...that is, we cant use that cycle since it leaks whe we do!!! :) Oh well...there are bigger things to worry about than a leaky washer!! :) Hopefully the guy has a simple solution tomorrow!! Thanks for the tip!
